At Theatreship we've been delighted with the Chisel Sisters' work. They've always been reliable, punctual, skilled, inventive, and a pleasure to work with. We've employed them across a number of different projects on Theatreship, including building the main entrance. It was a complicated design that needed to be weatherproof enough for the London winter, durable enough for our 20,000 annual visitors, collapsible enough to fit under bridges when we sail downriver for maintenance, and beautiful enough to do justice to the rest of the ship. They delivered all of the above with characteristic ease and good nature. Other projects included building a new acoustically insulated partition wall for the Theatre, seam reefing, stripping and re-finishing an 80 year old teak wheelhouse, and scribing new red cedar trim around the edges of another wall (no easy job given the absence of any right angles on a 113 year old boat).

I live on a houseboat, nothing is stock. After failing 3 times myself to solve a stair/ladder issue, Martha recognised the problems and made me one customised to my boat. Wow. Exactly what I had in mind! And given that my door leaked wind and water, she tailor made me a new one, maintaining the portal window. And it sealed shut. It's brilliant! And Martha doesn't mess about either, can run on a coffee, knows her brief and is enthusiastic. I say House of Lords now :)

I have a bone to pick with the Chisel Sisters. And it's this. They do not, in any way, live up to their name. Unlike most so-called craftspeople THEY NEVER CHISEL YOU. All their pricing is clear and transparent, all their work is exemplary, they are unfailingly cheerful and professional to boot. Where is the CHISELLING in any of this? If you want any project completed to great standards, on time, and on budget, by all means employ the Chisel Sisters. But when you do so, please try and persuade them to change their name to something more reflective of what they do.

genuinely impressed with the work the Chisel Sisters have done for me, I came to them with a clear vision for my outdoor space i shared a few photos of ideas for reference and they re-created everything exactly as I envisaged, even working with unusual materials that aren’t easy to handle, they built bespoke outdoor steps from my back door area, created my vision of a wooden structure to hide a slightly crooked concrete post while turning it into a feature, and also made internal shelving for my kitchen. It's truly refreshing to see such talent and craftsmanship, they followed the brief remembering every detail we discussed. Friends and family have been amazed by the results, and even more impressed when I told them it was a team of two ladies. I’ve already secured the Chisel Sisters for my next project because the quality of their work truly speaks for itself.
